Topic: Kant

Immanuel Kant (1724-1804) is a central figure in the history of modern
philosophy, whose revolutionary work continues to influence contemporary
Anglo-American and Continental philosophy in almost every area, including
metaphysics, epistemology, ethics and aesthetics. This course offers an
overview of Kant's three Critiques, and enables students to understand and
evaluate his answers to the questions he considered fundamental: What can I
know? What ought I to do? What may I hope?

Topics will include: skepticism, transcendental method, transcendental idealism,
the unity of the mind, freedom, rational religion and historical progress.

Previous knowledge of modern philosophy is presupposed.
