This course introduces students to the contemporary efforts to reform
the financing, organization and delivery of health care in the United
States. It aims to help students understand what the main health policy
issues are in the United States today, the current policy debates and
reform proposals before Congress, how proposed reforms may affect us as
professionals working in health care administration and policy and as
members of the public, and how various interest groups influence the
formation of these policies.
The course will draw on books, articles, newspaper reports, legal
materials such as legislative bills and testimony, videotape of public
speeches and media campaigns, government reports.
