Speech & Hearing Sciences | General Methods of Speech & Language Analysis
S515 | 3909 | Forrest

There have been many changes and advances in the procedures used to assess
speech and language disorders. In addition to standardized diagnostic
tests, there are a multitude of other tools that can be used to further
understand the basis for a speech or language problem. This expanded
knowledge can then be used to guide treatment. The primary objectives of
this course are to provide a theoretical and practical background for the
use of different analysis techniques and to introduce students to the use
of computer-based analyses of voice, respiration and articulation. Skills
to be investigated include videostroboscopy, aerodynamic and acoustic
analyses.
