COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is designed to expose graduate athletic training students to
some of
the more complex issues involved as an administrator in a athletic health
care
setting.  The course concentrates on systems thinking, philosophy, and
decision
making issues for managers supervising in clinics, high schools, and
collegiate
environments.  A sample of topics addressed are ethics, professional
regulation,
standards of practice, credentialing, leadership, drug testing, legal
issues, and
personnel management.

Students are required to review current literature and submit abstracts on
this
material.  A formal presentation is also required pertaining to a selected
operational
aspect of a sports medicine setting.

EXAMS:
Assignment of grade is by student contract.  Contracts are distributed on
the first
day of class and specific expectations are outlined for each grade level.  A
take
home final examination is required for all contracts.
