CLASS MEETING:
Meets one seventy-five minute period four times per week.
GRADING:
Graded on S/F basis only
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is designed to provide you with a working knowledge of
resistance
training principles and techniques, as well as to encourage participation in
weight
training as a vigorous life-long activity.
GRADING PROCEDURES:
There will be one examination which will consist of objective (multiple
choice and
true/false) and short answer questions covering materials that are presented
in
class. The examination will be worth 30% of your grade.
There will be one written Personal Training Project in which you will be
asked to
summarize your success in E187 with respect to weight training and a
specific
fitness-related goal that you will have chosen for yourself at the beginning
of the
course. The Personal Training Project is worth 40% of your grade.
Class participation and attendance is expected and represents the remaining
30%
of your final grade.
ATTENDANCE:
Students are allowed a maximum of 3 absences. Upon a fourth absence a
student
has three (3) options: 1) receive a grade of F; 2) officially withdraw
from the class;
3) follow an appeal procedure through your instructor and/or the Elective
Program
Coordinator.
