Education | Methods for Bilingual Teaching
L442 | 2514 | tba

This class is held on campus and part of The Language Minority
Institute which will offer two graduate courses--L524
Language Issues in Bilingual/Multicultural Education and L520 Advanced
Study of Foreign Language Teaching. The corresponding undergraduate
courses -- L441 Bilingual Education: An Introduction and L442 Methods
for Bilingual Teaching -- will be taught in conjunction with
the graduate courses. These courses will be offered with instruction
originating at IUB, and distance learning at IUPUI and other IU
campuses. Students will explore theories of and strategies for working
with English language learners. There will be a weekend retreat for
all students during the first weekend of the institute at the IUPUI
campus. Additionally, a short-term practicum (M401) will provide
students with the opportunity to apply their newly acquired knowledge
in actual English as a second language and bilingual classrooms.
Because of the intensity of the institute, students will be given
appropriate additional time to complete major projects. For more
