In this class we’ll be looking at the way some noted and not-so-
noted critics have written about film and TV. Readings will include
essays on Hitchcock, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, British TV, reality
television, race and the internet. Screenings will include Rear
Window, Monsieur Hire, the British TV drama Second Sight, episodes
of Buffy, the reality show Black/White, experimental shorts by
Sadie Benning, The Daughter of Dracula, Nadja, Hal Hartley’s
Amateur, excerpts from DJ Spooky’s Birth of a Nation remix and a PBS
documentary that is still in post production.
