Just how do artists make works of art?  Is creativity something we
can learn, or, are artists just born with it?  What is a work of art
anyway?  Introduction to Art is a course designed to address our
most basic questions regarding the nature of art, its processes and
meanings.  Beginning with general discussions about the purposes of
art, this course will also look very specifically at the materials
of art and how art is made, looking at some of the world’s most
famous works.  The course ends with a survey of art history through
the ages and in different cultures, including the art of today.
