LOCATION: Elkhorn Creek, Frankfort, Kentucky
DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to introduce the student to
basic whitewater canoeing skills. R110 Whitewater Canoeing is a
highly experiential course where they must demonstrate knowledge and
skills about canoeing strategies and tactics, water safety, river
dynamics, and relevant whitewater canoeing equipment.
BOOKS: Canoeing: A Trailside Guide, by Gordon Grant.
ASSIGNMENTS: Readings
EVALUATION: 30% skill demonstration, 30% expedition behavior,
30% written examination, 10% self assessment.
ADDITIONAL FEE: The additional fee for the class is $160, which
includes transportation, food, boating gear and group camping
equipment.
