Psychology and Brain Sciences | Introductory Psychology
P101 | 3914 | Thomassen, L.
P101 is one of two courses introducing students to the science of
psychology. This course begins with an introduction to the field,
including the history of the discipline, and the techniques used in
psychology. This course focuses on the "hard" or "basic science"
aspects of the discipline, including neurological functioning,
sensation and perception, consciousness, learning, memory, and
cognitive processes. Knowledge about these fundamental processes, and
their systems, is necessary for an understanding of the discipline,
and it is really interesting, besides! We will also cover
developmental psychology, tracking changes over the life course, and
language, and emotion.
