What do you know about art?  What do you want to know?  This course
is designed to introduce the non-specialist to various aspects of
the art world, including different media techniques and a brief
survey of the art from pre-history to modern times.  We will discuss
the purposes and themes of art, analyze objects, and learn to talk
about what we see.  Grades will be assessed on the basis of class
participation, short papers, and non-cumulative exams.
