Philosophy | Introductory Symbolic Logic
P250 | 4079 | Staff

This is a first course in symbolic logic. There are no
prerequisites other than a high-school level understanding of
English. The emphasis of the course will be on developing skills in
symbolizing a wide range of English sentences and arguments and in
applying elementary logical techniques for the evaluation of the
validity of the arguments symbolized. Logical connections studied
will be those of ‘sentence logic’ (not, and, or if-then, and if and
only if, also studied in P150) as well as ‘quantifier logic’ (the
logic of all and some).
