This is a lecture course on the history of the plague, concentrating
on the experience and reactions of Europeans, from 1348 to 1722. The
last segment of the course examines plague in a modern, global
setting. The course is at an introductory level, and focuses on
cultural issues surrounding death and dying, and human responses to
disaster.
