Political Science | Intro to International Relations
Y109 | 3371 | Jacob Shively

To what degree can individuals and governments shape international
politics? What sort of world order should international actors pursue?
This course examines these questions by analyzing the origins and
evolution of the international system; theories for understanding
international politics; explanations for foreign policy and war; and
today’s globalized world order. Students will complete a long writing
project in addition to occasional quizzes, class participation and two
major exams. Ultimately, we will identify major themes of and acquire
tools to think about international politics, one of the most complex
and important arenas of human life.
