Course format: Daily lectures (8:55A-10:10A, JH A100) plus two (50 minute)
learning group meetings per week.
Requirements: P: Biol L211 or S211.
Course description: Analysis of genetic and developmental processes that
lead to the construction of whole organisms, and to the transmission to
their offspring of specific genetic traits. Includes principles of
genetics, mutagenesis, chromosomal abnormalities and analysis of mutations
affecting development.
Required text: "An Introduction to Genetic Analysis", 6th edition, by
Griffiths, et al. "Student Companion with Complete Solutions for An
Introduction to Genetic Analysis", 6th edition, by Lavett.
Weekly assignments: Two worksheets, problem assignments, readings from
textbook and supplemental materials.
Exams/papers: Three exams (given in the evening during a two-hour time
period) plus a comprehensive final exam.
