This is a course for students who are interested in writing poetry and
fiction, but who have had no previous training in creative writing. It is
designed to provide students with an insight into the creative process,
and make them more intelligent readers of literature. It is also intended
to prepare students for more advanced creative writing courses at the 200,
300 and 400 levels. Class time will be taken up primarily with the
discussion of the class members' writing.

The instructor may choose texts for the course and make additional
assignments from them. Students must have completed the English
composition requirement before enrolling in W103.
