Social Work | Child Abuse & Family Violence
S300 | 2311 | Hersch

This elective social work course examines both research studies and the
service application of knowledge in the field of family violence, abuse, and
neglect. Recent findings from empirical studies are reviewed and then
compared to the beliefs and practices of treatment and legal services
designed to intervene in situations of family violence. Many examples are
drawn from cases and studies of child sexual abuse. Students are encouraged
to develop the ability to review critically statements made about child
abuse and families.
