The course will focus on the sculpture, painting, and
architecture in Italy, 1580-1700.  Development of Baroque style
from late 16th century through the period of the High Baroque in
Rome, Florence, and Venice in the mid- to late- 17th century.
Lectures, readings, and discussions will be centered around
questions of stylistic progression, and the influence of patrons,
socio-economic conditions, and religion on artistic practice.
