This course introduces linguistics to graduate students. It provides a
survey of the main concepts and methods of analysis in the central
subfields of linguistics, including phonetics, phonology, morphology,
syntax, semantics, and language acquisition. Each topic will involve both
mastery of key concepts and analysis of data from English and other
languages. Coursework includes homework assignments, examinations, and a
paper dealing in greater depth with a topic covered in class.
