This is a survey course designed to continue the introduction of
psychology as a science and a profession, focusing on the social basis
for human behavior rather than the biological basis as presented in
Introductory Psychology 1. Our survey will include, among other
topics, a discussion of the influence of heredity and environment on
human development, theories of personality, psychological disorders
and their treatment, the influence of our social environment on
individual behavior (to include topics such as aggression, helping,
prejudice, and romantic attraction), and the relationship between
stress and psychological health.
