community" will be the focus of the 2001 field school. Field school
participants will work closely with local residents with and without
disabilities to document the history and experience of disability in the
community. The field school is designed for schoolteachers, museum
curators, librarians, local historians, community activists, university
students-anyone with a strong interest in cultural documentation. Persons
with disabilities and professionals in the field of disabilities are
especially encouraged to register. Sessions will include demonstrations,
lectures, guest speakers, opportunities for developing photographic and
fieldwork skills. Goal: Learn about, practice and apply techniques of
cultural documentation: project planning, interviewing, still photography,

strategies for community-building.
