This course will explore the causes and consequences of
international and civil wars, as well as less dramatic international events.
We will begin with a review of some of the prominent explanations for why
these atrocities occur, and then discuss how we can apply these frameworks
to the current conflicts in Iraq, Bosnia, the Middle East, and the Asia. The
purpose of the course is to teach students to make informed decisions about
US international policies. Students will be responsible for 2 papers and 1
test.
