History | American History II
H106 | 4487 | Taysom
The course is designed to explore the history of the United States
from the end of the Civil War to the present. During these years,
our nation underwent a transformation from a predominantly rural
society into one of the most powerful industrial and political
nations. Special emphasis will be given to American society,
culture, and politics. We will investigate events in such a way as
to see how and why they occurred and the ultimate consequences of
these events.
There will be three in-class midterms (20% each for a total of 60%);
one non-comprehensive final (30%); and a grade for attendance and
participation (10%). The text will be: Out of Many, Vol. 2, brief
third edition.
