The course will focus on the politics of development with a primary
focus on Africa, although other regions' experiences will also be
discussed. We will discuss the ideological and institutional factors
that affect development efforts and how these factors have limited
development effectiveness. We will discuss current issues as part of
a broader historical and political analysis in an effort to
understand the current state of political and economic development in
the developing world. This course will provide you with a better
understanding of the political factors, both domestic and
international, that affect development efforts.
