An overview of both environmental and genetic causes of disabilities
with emphasis on prevention.  Environmental causes will focus on LBW –
Low Birth Weight babies and related factors such as: DATA – Drugs,
Alcohol and Tobacco Abuse; TAP – TeenAge Parents’ STD’s; HIV and
AIDS.  Genetic causes will look at chromosomes, single genes, errors
in embryology, genetic counseling and prenatal diagnosis and therapy;
gene therapy via genetic engineering and how oncogenes cause cancer.
