This course begins with the British-French Wars in Colonial America
and ends with the American War in Iraq in 2003.  We will examine the
reasons for America’s Wars, the resolution of these wars, the
weaponry used, the strategy, and some of the leading officers of the
American Armed Forces.  We will also explore the consequences of
possible alternative outcomes to some of America’s wars, and the
different missions of the various Armed Forces in the context of
peace and war.  Come prepared to examine world maps as well as more
of world history than is usually covered in an American history
course.  There will be four in-class exams, each one counting 25% of
the grade.
