Prerequisites: P101 and P102, or P151 and P152, or P106.
This course has been designed to introduce you to the scientific
study of abnormal behavior. We will cover a wide variety of topics,
including: 1) models of mental illness, 2) assessment and
classification, 3) cognitive and biological mechanisms, 4) research
methods, 5) legal and ethical issues, and 6) an in-depth
consideration of prevalent disorders. Films, audio and videotapes,
and case examples will be utilized when appropriate and available.
Format: Lecture and discussion.
