This course is an introduction to the techniques and skills
necessary for describing, characterizing, and explaining the
structure of languages. The course will focus on the analysis of
linguistic data from a number of the world's language in terms of
their phonology, morphology, and syntax. Relevant concepts in
phonetics and semantics will also be discussed. The core analytical
and theoretical concepts presented will provide the student with the
necessary tools for practical linguistic problem-solving based on
logic and scientific argumentation.
