Health, Physical Education And Recreation | Physical Education Summer Institute (2-3 cr)
K500 | 5164 | Cothran

DATES, TIMES AND LOCATION:
The workshop will be held June 23-25, 1999. The conference is held at North
Wayne Elementary School in Indianapolis, IN.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The Physical Education Summer Institute, formerly known as PACE, is a
physical education workshop that is co-sponsored by Indiana University and
the Indiana State Department of Education. The theme of this year's Summer
Institute is "Unlock Your Program's Potential With Keys to Success". Keys
that will be discussed include new curriculum standards, evaluation,
fitness, and teaching the three R's: Respect, Responsibility, and
Resourcefulness. Nationally known teachers and leaders, as well as local
educators will share their ideas. Teachers and anyone interested in
children and movement are encouraged to attend.

Students may take the workshop for undergraduate or graduate credit. A new
credit option for participants this year is to take the workshop for college
credit with pass/fail option. This option is most appropriate for teachers
who take the workshop for state department license re-certification
purposes. For those teachers enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate
program and hoping to use the workshop toward degree requirements, the
pass/fail option may not be appropriate. Traditional grading options for
full credit are still available, however, the student must complete
additional work after the conference. For additional information, visit the
summer institute web page: http://www.indiana.edu/~kines/pesummerinst.html
