Environmental Education in the Outdoors

This course will meet June 14-18, 1999.
Description: This course is an intensive two week course that will use the
outdoors as the laboratory to share strategies, methodology and techniques
to teach base-level environmental education concepts to others. This course
will utilize experiential hands-on activities to fulfill its goals. In
other words you will be outside and you will get dirty!!!
Goals: Through the next two weeks this course will:
1) Make students aware of the basic principles of environmental education
and the methodologies to convey these principles to others
2) Make students aware of sensory awareness techniques that can be conveyed
to others
3) Make students understand basic ecological principles relative to local
Indiana systems and to become aware of methodologies to convey these
concepts to others
4) Make students aware of particular environmental issues and to become
aware of methodologies to convey issue awareness to others
5) Enable students to develop their own outdoor curriculum to be used to
teach others about the basic concepts of environmental education
Additional Information: This course meets at Bradford Woods. Course
requires a lab fee. Course has a residential option.
