African American Arts Institute concert "A Potpourri of Arts in the African American Tradition" to feature three performing arts groups

This year's concert will feature all three performing arts groups housed within the African American Arts Institute:

  • The African American Choral Ensemble, directed by Keith McCutchen, known for its passionate, harmonious and soulful performances, will feature rhythm in songs, claps, and symbolism. Enjoy "Tick-Tock," a spiritual setting transcribed by emeritus director, Dr. James Mumford.
  • The African American Dance Company, directed by Iris Rosa, will skillfully demonstrate its ingenious and imaginative interpretations enriched by cultures of the African Diaspora. The dance company is dancing to two musical selections from Jamaican spoken word artist, Mutabaruka.
  • Through intense grooves, strong rhythms, cohesive instrumentation, the IU Soul Revue, directed by Nathanael Fareed Mahluli, will bring to you timeless R&B, soul, funk, and other urban black popular music sounds recorded by Earth Wind & Fire, En Vogue, Ohio Players, and others.
