Haiti Film Festival to commemorate earthquake anniversary, raise money for relief efforts

Indiana University La Casa and community-based Bloomington for Haiti announce a film festival to focus on the ongoing social and economic needs of people in Haiti. The Haiti Film Festival will commemorate the anniversary of the January 12, 2010, earthquake that devastated Port-au-Prince and other communities in Haiti and left 1.5 million people homeless.

The Haiti Film Festival runs from 1:30-7:30pm on Sunday, January 23, at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater in downtown Bloomington. Information booths staffed by local organizations working in Haiti will be available from 2:30-7:00pm. Tickets are $5 for students and seniors and $7.50 general admission. All admissions revenue will be donated to organizations working in Haiti to alleviate the humanitarian issues depicted in the films.
