La Casa Department Secretary Position Open
Job Summary: Performs routine and non-routine secretarial and receptionist tasks related to the daily support and overall success of Latino Culture Center. Provides referral and resource information to callers and visitors and coordinates cultural and educational program arrangements. Audits payroll, processes e-docs, orders supplies, and maintains files and office equipment. Maintains faculty/staff and graduate student directories, drafts correspondence, opens and closes the center, schedules staff, and performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED: High school diploma or GED and one year of office experience.
Excellent communication and leadership skills; ability to work with wide range of people; and excellent planning and organizational skills. Ability to accurately review and complete information and projects; ability to be detail-oriented; and ability to take responsibility and function under minimal supervision.
Knowledge of computers and database/spreadsheet/word processing/desktop publishing software. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to assist with supervision and scheduling of staff and to perform routine problem solving. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality. Valid Indiana driver's license with acceptable driving record that is insurable by Indiana University.
Preferred: Knowledge of Latino cultures and oral and written communication skills in Spanish.
Note: Position requires incumbent to be available to work events outside of routine work hours.
