Panamanian dance workshop and panel discussion Nov. 17

IU African American Dance Company and the IU chapter of Movement Exchange offer a unique opportunity to explore Panamanian culture and dance.  They will host a Panamanian dance workshop and panel discussion on Sun., Nov. 17, from 1-5pm, in the Neal-Marshall Black Culture Center (275 N. Jordan Ave., Bloomington) Studio A217.  The dance class will be from 1-3pm; the panel discussion, 3:30-5pm.  Ladies, bring a wide skirt (polera) for dancing!

Panamanian dance professional Damaris Bergeron will teach participants folkloric dances of Panama, as well as focus on the social, cultural, and historical significances of the dances.

Following the dance class, a panel discussion will be held for participants to ask more indepth questions and engage in a conversation with Mrs. Bergeron and professor Iris Rosa, director of the African American Dance Company. The class and discussion are open to the community.  A donation of $5 is suggested.
