After the death of literary figure Maya Angelou on May 28, the News and Media Team received inquiries about her visits to Indiana University. Arrangements were made for a reporter at WISH-TV in Indianapolis to interview George Taliaferro, an IU alumnus and assistant to former IU President John Ryan, who hosted Angelou during her first visit to IU. Also interviewed in the segment was Mari Evans, a former IU faculty member now at Butler University.
