Students reflect on MLK during Unity Summit: ‘Diversity is more than race’

On Monday, January 20, hundreds of students, faculty, and staff gathered in the IMU Alumni Hall for the 9th annual Unity Summit.  The Unity Summit is held each year during the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration, using group discussions to promote diversity, awareness, and cultural understanding.  While many of the discussions focused on issues relating to race, others felt discussions about diversity also need to include such topics as sexual orientation, gender, and economic status.
