Volunteers needed for 2011 Soul Food Festival

On Sunday, September 18, 2011, the annual Soul Food Festival will take place as part of the 2nd Annual Bloomington Multicultural Expo at Bryan Park from 12noon-5pm. The major goal of the Soul Food Festival is to promote the appreciation and respect for African American cultural traditions and cuisine and to highlight African American businesses, organizations, and related services within Bloomington and Monroe County. The festival is currently looking for committee members who will be responsible for organizing activities and entertainment for the day of the festival. If you are unable to be on the planning committee but would still like to help out, volunteers will be needed on the day of the event to:

  • Help with set up and break down of displays
  • Work at the children's arts and crafts stations
  • Assist with volunteer coordination
  • Photograph or videotape event activities
For more information on being part of the planning committee or volunteering for the 2011 Soul Food Festival, please contact Beverly Calender-Anderson at 349-3560 or andersb@bloomington.in.gov.
