Spike Lee joins ArtsWeek 2011 at IU Auditorium on Feb. 26

Acclaimed director, producer, writer, and actor Spike Lee will join the IU and Bloomington communities at IU Auditorium on Saturday, February 26, at 7 p.m. for ArtsWeek 2011. Celebrating its 27th year, ArtsWeek showcases the unique richness of artistic expression in Bloomington, and this year is themed "ArtsTeach," with programming focused on the importance of encouraging creativity and imagination among young people.

Among the best-known filmmakers today and the creator of numerous films including Do the Right Thing, Malcolm X, and the recent two-part documentary, If God is Willing and Da Creek Don't Rise, Spike Lee will present both a lecture discussing his films and a Q&A session.

Free general admission tickets for Lee's lecture will be issued to IU Bloomington students with a valid student ID beginning Monday, February 7, at 10 a.m. at the IU Auditorium Box Office.

Non-students will be able to obtain free general admission tickets beginning Wednesday, February 9, at 10 a.m. at the IU Auditorium Box Office.
