Better Late Than Never (I hope):
Fall 1999 Edition of The School Psychologist Delayed
Steven G. Little
Editor
To paraphrase Maxwell Smart of "Get Smart" fame: Sorry about that folks. Unfortunately a number of factors contributed to the Fall 1999 edition of The School Psychologist (Vol. 53, # 4) being sent out behind schedule. For this I am very sorry and accept full responsibility. The first factor that contributed to the delay was a change in the computer program used to format the newsletter. This is a one time only event and one that will facilitate the more rapid dissemination of future editions. In addition, this change allows for an electronic version of The School Psychologist to be sent to Division members for the first time (See notice in this edition if you would like to receive an electronic version).
The majority of the delay, however, involved switching our nonprofit mailing permit from Alabama to New York. This was necessitated by my accepting a new position at Hofstra University and moving in August. One would think that it would be a simple process of switching the permit as it had been approved in Alabama only 2 years previously but that was not the case. In spite of the fact that a permit has been issued many times in the past in a number of locations and we currently held a valid permit in Tuscaloosa Alabama , the United States Postal Service required a new application. The application process took close to 2 months and required providing additional information a couple of times. It did finally get approved and you should have received your copy early in December. If this caused any inconvenience to anyone I apologize. Now that all of the paperwork is in order this should not happen again during my final year as editor. I also now know to warn the new editor to start the process of getting as permit very early.
