2010 Off-Season Practices

Over the course of the next few months the IU drumline will be hosting a few practices. ANY person that is interested in joining the drumline (even if it's just a little bit) is more than welcome to join us at these practices. The whole idea of the practices are to keep vets playing during the off season, and to prepare rookies for auditions in the fall. No matter who you are, they're a lot of fun and relaxed.

IU Drumline at PASIC!

The IU Drumline attended PASIC (Percussive Arts Society International Conference) this year and competed in the Marching Percussion Festival along with several other excellent schools and soloists.  The Festival was held at the Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis.  The Drumline performed a 9 minute show including their on-field warm-up, cadences, and crazy "Sing Sing Sing" drum solo.  

Instructor Joel Brainard, "It was wonderful to play for an educated audience of fellow percussionists.  Your average Big 10 Football game fan has no idea how difficult our music is, they just want to dance around.  And that is cool!  But to play for ears that understand and appreciate our talent is a rare and wonderful thing!  It was also terrific to have established giants in the marching idiom there to adjudicate us.  It inspires a whole new level of intensity when Tom Aungst and Scott Johnson are leaning over your sticks with a tape recorder! We had a great time, and we are looking forward to doing it again, when we can."
