2012 Audition Information

Please read the "2012 Audition Letter"

This year, due to a week earlier 1st day of Fall classes, IU Drumline auditions begin on the same day as DCI Finals (August 11th, 2012). This is an unfortunate coincidence, but one we are trying to accomodate with timing.  We will begin auditions at 9am and finish by 3pm that day.  This should allow for students with tickets to make it to Indy well within time for this important marching percussion event.  If you are able, I also recommend attending quarter-finals and semi-finals on Thursday and Friday.  As long as it is held in our backyard (Indy) why not go up there and take advantage of the most amazing FREE show in the world?  Parking Lot!  DCI & WGI set the bar for this activity, to be sure.

Drumline auditions consist (mostly) of full line playing, Saturday and Sunday (see calendar).  There will be a brief individual process at the onset of auditons for Joel to hear anyone he has not heard play before.  Otherwise, auditions are spent playing in sections; learning, cleaning, and rehearsing 2012 materials.  As the weekend progresses, students are notified when it becomes clear they are not a good fit for a certain section.  However, students may choose to auditon for a different instrument once "cut" from their area of specialty.  We encourage this!

All audition materials are available on our private website.  Email Joel Brainard (director) for the link to these materials. jbrainar@indiana.edu
