Director/Arranger: Joel Brainard

Joel Brainard has been the director of the Marching Hundred Drumline since 2002. Graduating with a music education undergrad and jazz studies masters degree from IU, he was a member of the IU Drumline for four years. As a tenor player, Joel performed with DCI as a member of The Spartans, The Bluestars, and The Blue Knights. Joel went on to "tech" tenors at Capital Regiment and served as percussion caption head at Magic of Orlando. Joel has worked with many programs but is most known for his time teaching percussion at Bloomington HS North and the former WGI World Class ensemble, Indianapolis Independent (I-2). Currently, Joel is the band AND choir director at Batchelor Middle School (Bloomington), is a working drumset artist, and freelances as a marching percussion clinician.  Joel is proud to be a member of the Vic Firth Education Team and plays with Remo heads, Zildjian cymbals, and Yamaha drums.

Asst. Director/Arranger: Tim Perry

Tim received his Bachelor’s degree in music education from Indiana Wesleyan University. He was a four-year member of the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps playing snare drum from 2008-11. Tim also has a snare drum world champion title earned from the 2010 Percussive Arts Society International Convention marching snare drum competition. Presently, Tim serves as the percussionist for the touring brass group, Kings Brass. Tim is currently working on his masters degree in percussion performance from Jacobs School of Music and is highly active as a teacher and writer for many high schools in Indiana.
