Director/Arranger: Joel Brainard

Joel Brainard was appointed director of the Marching Hundred Drumline in 2002. Graduating with a music education undergrad and jazz studies masters degree from IU, he was also a four year member of the IU Drumline. As a tenor player, Joel spent three seasons in DCI performing with The Spartans, The Bluestars, and the Blue Knights. After his performance career, Joel went on to "tech" tenors at Capital Regiment and serve as percussion caption head at Magic of Orlando. Joel is also known for his time teaching percussion at Bloomington HS North and the former WGI World Class ensemble, Indianapolis Independent (I-2). Currently Joel teaches music at Batchelor Middle School (Bloomington), works as a drumset artist, and works as a marching percussion clinician. Using Remo heads, Zildjian cymbals, and Yamaha drums, Joel is also a member of the Vic Firth Education Team.
