The Design Studies Initiative is a community of scholars, students and industry professionals with a common passion for design. Like any community, we each bring something different to the mix: backgrounds, expertise, opinions, professional experiences, academic approaches.

But we’re willing to share. And listen. And build upon one another’s ideas to create something altogether innovative and dynamic: a learning experience that fosters and encourages new, 360° ways of thinking about design.That’s what makes the Design Studies Initiative community special.

Individual schools and departments award academic degrees and certificates.The Design Studies Initiative encourages greater cross-pollination and interaction among these educational programs through course offerings, forums, design studios, projects, digital presentation technology applications, field experiences and career counseling.
