TESOL INTERNSHIP
Announcing a new 10-hour per week, unpaid internship in TESOL. Learn the inside workings of an intensive English Program (IEP) designed to promote English for academic purposes and to place students in academic programs. Get hands-on experience and develop an awareness of immigration procedures for international students; learn office procedures and record keeping; and attend teachers' meetings; be involved with IEP social activities. Work with the IEP directors to understand the non-teaching aspects of a TESOL program.
Requirements: Priority will be given to students enrolled in the TESOL and Applied Linguistics MA program. Applications from international students are invited. Preference will be given to 2nd year students. MA and PhD students in other departments are also encouraged to apply.

STUDENT CONGRATULATIONS ARE IN ORDER:
We are pleased and proud to announce that SLS Graduate Student Jihye Lee has been awarded one of 4 awards for the four highest rated student abstracts at the upcoming Second Language Research Forum, which will take place in East Lansing, MI, October 29-November 1. Her abstract is entitled "Pragmatic development of direction giving by learners of Korean as a foreign language".
