Blue Flag Iris (Iris virginica shrevei)

Native perennial of wet to moist black soil prairies, sunny floodplains, edges of small bodies of water, and woodlands

Partial to full sun, wet to moist conditions, and rich soil (plant in low, wet areas)

Blooms light blue to violet, May-July

Grows 2 - 3 ft.

Faunal Associations:

    • Bumblebees
    • Butterflies
    • Skippers
    • Halictid bees
    • Some beetles

Fun Fact: There are five species and two varieties of Blue Flag Iris
