Thimbleweed (Anemone virginiana)

Native perennial of black soil prairies, woodland borders, savannas, and thickets

Slight shade to full sun and partially dry to moderate conditions (plant in dry to medium areas)

Blooms greenish-white or white, June - July

Grows 1 - 3 ft. .

Faunal Associations:

    • Flower flies
    • Small bees, including Plasterer bees and Halictid bees

Fun Fact: Avoided by mammilian herbivores due to a blistering agent in the foliage
