Wingstem (Verbesina alternifolia)

Native perennial of moist meadows, woodlands, and prairies, areas bordering woodlands, savannas, and thickets, and floodplain forests

Full sun to some shade and moist to moderate conditions (medium to low, wet areas)

Blooms yellow, August - September

Grows 3 - 8 ft.

Faunal Associations:

    • Mostly long-tongued bees such as bumblebees

Fun Fact: Deer and rabbits do not feed on Wingstem because the leaves are bitter
