Paper Assignments

During the course of the term, you will have three paper assignments.  All will call for brief essays, and should require about a week of work on your part.  These are opportunities to reflect carefully on very specific questions, concerning limited groups of texts.  In writing papers, the cogency of your ideas and their clarity of expression should be the principal issue, but we also want you to improve your writing by paying close attention to matters of composition and form.   For details about presentation and criteria for grading, follow links on the first paper assignment.

Paper #1     (posted February 7 / due February 15)
