Jilin Arts and Literature Revolutionary Right to Rebel Great Army 1967, Jilin

A woodcut style poster of Red Guards, one shouting through a megaphone and one distributing copies of the August 1966 decision which launched the Cultural Revolution. Like most posters of this period, it conveys a sense of urgency: the poster was not made to be admired, but to inspire immediate action. The girl and boy here are rebels, even though their ultimate free agency is questionable.
