Andra Alvis Andra Alvis (Independent Scholar) Dr. Alvis specializes in the fantastic literature of Japan and psychoanalytic and feminist theory.
Cecilia Boyce Cecilia Boyce (National Board Certified Teacher, Hillsborough High School, Tampa, FL) Ms. Boyce teaches world literature in the International Baccalaureate Program and is acting as our curriculum consultant for the eighth year.
Ann Choi Ann Choi (assistant professor, Asian Languages and Cultures, Rutgers University) Prof. Choi teaches Korean language, literature, and culture. Her interests include Korean and English poetry and comparative literature.
Kai wing Chow Kai-wing Chow (professor, East Asian Languages and Cultures and History, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign). Prof. Chow specializes in the intellectual and cultural history of Ming-Ch’ing China. His current research focuses on the social history of popular religions and intellectual developments in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.
Sean Kim Sean Kim (assistant professor, History and Anthropology, University of Central Missouri) Prof. Kim specializes in modern Korean religious and cultural history, with research interests in Protestant missionaries, popular religion, and colonialism.
Scott O'Bryan (assistant professor, East Asian Languages and Cultures and History, Indiana University) Prof. O’Bryan’s research interests include twentieth-century Japan, economic nationalism, consumption and consumer culture, environmental history, and peace thought and practice.
Gary Xu Gary Xu (associate professor, East Asian Languages and Cultures and Comparative Literature, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign) Prof. Xu specializes in modern literature, cinema, and critical theory. His interests include transnationalism and trans-ethnic representations and the impact of neoliberalism on China’s transition to a globalized consumer society.
